Our Founder
Dana Johnson, RN, MSCP
Dana spent nearly 20 years as an RN in academic medical center ICUs helping deliver some of the country’s most advanced critical care. Those two decades taught her that conventional medicine excels at rescuing people in crisis, but often fails at keeping people truly healthy. It is reactive sick care, not proactive healthcare.
When Long COVID triggered her own struggle with autoimmune dysfunction, mast cell activation, gut permeability, chronic inflammation, and early menopause, Dana experienced the system from the other side. She encountered rushed, fragmented visits focused on managing isolated symptoms rather than treating her as a whole person. She felt dismissed and unheard.
With the belief that every person deserves to be heard, believed and cared for, Dana expanded her clinical foundation. She pursued rigorous study to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) and an AAWHM Certified Women’s Hormone Therapy Specialist.
Believing deeply in whole person care, she then integrated advanced training in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and advanced functional lab interpretation. This dual focus allows her to understand the complex connections between hormones, gut health, systemic inflammation, stress, and immune function—root causes that traditional medicine rarely addresses as a complete picture.
Dana founded Qavah to bridge the gap between evidence-based conventional medicine and personalized, root-cause care. Her approach is rooted in a simple belief: healthcare should be deeply relational, never transactional.
